PETITION TARGET: Taranto Police

A police bloodhound named Bruno was found dead in southern Italy after allegedly being fed dog food filled with nails, according to CBS News.

The bloodhound, credited with finding nine people during his career as a sniffer dog, was reportedly intentionally targeted for his trainer’s involvement in rescuing dogs from dogfighting operations.

The suffering he likely endured—as the sharp metal tore through his insides and shredded his internal organs—is unimaginable and deeply heartbreaking.

Although no suspects have been officially named or charged, the trainer has provided authorities with the identities of two individuals he suspects may be behind the attack.

Bruno spent his life saving others, only to die in a brutal and senseless way — allegedly killed to send a message to his trainer, as if his life meant nothing at all.

PETITION TARGET: U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service

Undercover video from India shows hunters lighting a fire to force a terrified pangolin from a tree, capturing them in a bag, beating them with a machete, and tossing their bleeding body into boiling water, according to The Independent.

This brutal scene is just one example of the widespread and violent exploitation that’s causing pangolin populations to plummet.

Sadly, pangolins are the most trafficked mammal on earth, with as many as 2.7 million African pangolins killed annually by hunters — primarily to meet demand in Asian markets, where their scales are prized in traditional medicine and their meat is seen as a delicacy.

The trafficking of pangolin body parts has even reached the United States, as numerous shipments have been seized at the border in recent years.

Beyond pushing pangolins toward extinction, the illegal trade also often finances other criminal activities, including drug and arms smuggling.

Recognizing the severe threats facing these animals — trafficking, loss of habitat, and genetic issues — the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has proposed listing seven pangolin species from Asia (Chinese, Indian, Sunda, Philippine) and Africa (white-bellied, black-bellied, giant) as endangered under the Endangered Species Act.

If these protections are enacted, they could better restrict pangolin imports and help hold more traffickers accountable.

The gentle nature and lack of natural defenses of pangolins, combined with the high demand for their body parts, make them especially vulnerable to poaching and illegal trade — and they urgently need protection to survive.

PETITION TARGET: Malta Police Force

Cats are being killed — their body parts cut off — in a disturbing pattern that has emerged in Sliema, Malta, and nearby communities where a minimum of seven cats have been found dead since May. Several others have suffered injuries or disappeared, according to Times of Malta.

The victims’ injuries were strikingly consistent — with tongues cut out, faces badly wounded, and tails partially severed. In one case, a man was caught on camera slamming a feline against the road at night, then leaving her in the street to die.

So far, no one has been identified or charged in relation to the attacks. Anyone who finds a dead cat is urged to leave them where they are, take pictures of the corpse, check for nearby security cameras, and alert the authorities.

These horrific acts are deliberate and sadistic, and whoever is behind them must be stopped before another innocent life is taken.
