Dolly Parton knew just how much vocal to put on this song, which made it enjoyable to hear at the end of her show every week.

Whitney Houston put too much “voice” on it and stomped the song into the ground beneath all that is “her”…While her version is very accomplished and her voice is at its peak, this song never should’ve been sang by her powerful voice…Parton’s version was the best in that she didn’t “overdo” the vocals and her softer delivery endeared the song to the listener more, almost placing the song within the audience in a manner that more powerful vocal deliveries will never attain.
